Y2 - Stafford Castle

Written by Holly

On the 15th & 16th January Y2O & Y2P went on a trip to Stafford Castle. They did lots of fun activities such as running through the corridor of death and doing acts.

Then they went inside to explore, afterwards they went to the lavender bags and had some fun activity’s to do. A couple of minutes later they learned about the attack of King Harold and King William.

Each child was given a little present of a minted coin and for a fun experience they looked thorough the arrow slits which are little diamond shaped windows on top of the castle what are used for firing arrows from.

Then they learned about knights one of the children asked a useful question and they asked "How old do you have to be to become a knight?" and the answer he got was 6 or 7 years old to become a knight.

When they had there food they learned some more facts about when the knights were at war where they slept and they all laughed when they heard there home was made out of poo and mud some people felt a bit sick.

Then for a intriguing story. They had a story about the Battle of Hastings in the year 1066.

Then they said goodbye to the leaders.

All the children in Y2 had a great time and learnt lots of exciting new facts, which they were able to take back to school and write about.
