World Book Day 2019
On Thursday 7th March 2019, we celebrated World Book Day – a day where we celebrate books and reading. All classes, did many things such as; reading-of course-, sharing books, reading with other year groups and going in the hall to share a book with a family member. Not everyone went in the hall but the majority of the school did.
The best part was, going to school in out pyjamas.
I took some time to speak to some of our Reception & Year 1 children to ask them what they did during the day and what they enjoyed the most.
In Reception, they had lots of fun doing various activities. They read a book called ‘Aliens Like Underpants’.
During the day, both classes mixed up to read a book called ‘Giraffe Can`t Dance’. They had a jungle themed classroom (because they were reading jungle books).
The children in reception also had an opportunity to read with the Year 4 children.
Year 1, also had lots of fun during the day. They also enjoyed sharing books with each other and talking to each other about what they thought about the books and which one was their favourite.
Here are some quotes from Year 1 children:
“I thought it was really good!”
“I absolutely loved it!”
They also had a sit down with some delicious juice and yummy water. These lucky children got a chance to read with the Year 2 children (which was lots of fun they said).
All the children & staff had a great day on World Book Day and we hope that all the parents who came in to share a story enjoyed it as much as we did.
