Y6 - Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Written by Holly

Y6 had a full experience in class (well almost everyone). Some of the children felt a bit sick and stood out of it when they were cutting up the heart. I spoke to some of the children that took part in the dissection and found out what they thought:

Child A

“I felt sick when they cut the heart and I thought it was going to be a sheep or a pig heart and it was a pig heart I was fascinated because when Mr Satur came in he carried a chocolate box what I thought was full of chocolates”.

Child B

“I was fascinated by all the stuff what was contained in such a small heart I was happy when I saw Mr Satur with a chocolate box I thought it contained chocolates but it contained something horrible a heart an animal heart it freaked me out at the beginning but I was ok at the end”.

Child C

“When I saw the heart I thought I was going to be sick but I kept hope and tried my hardest not to look away when I saw the heart I think it was a pig heart and I was right I wasn’t fascinated but I was at the same time it’s a bit confusing”.

Child D

“I was shocked when I saw the pig heart and when he came in and showed the hearts I thought it was going to be a pig or a sheep I was right when I said pig and I was interested in it when I saw the insides and did not know it contains a lot of wild stuff”.

Child E

“I was disgusted when I saw the heart in person but when I knew it was a pig heart and I was ok and I was so glad I was not sick. When Mr Satur opened it up I was so interested on what would be inside because he came in with a chocolate box it was weird that there was a heart inside”.

Child F

“It was gross inside the heart and all I saw was blood and lots more gross stuff at first I thought it was a sheep heart and I was incorrect even though it was gross it was very interesting”.

Child G

“It was a bit sickly at the beginning looking at the insides of the heart at the first time I saw it I thought it was a sheep or a pig heart after a while it got interesting and I was fine looking at it”.

It was an amazing experience to be able to learn about the heart and how it works and to actually get to touch and dissect an actual heart and to all the children in a lower class then Y6, hopefully one day you will get to see the dissection of heart.
